  • Kiln Cross-Section: 16.8Meters

  • Kiln Diameter: 160 Meters

Case Introduction

Core Focus: Scalability and High-Volume Output

1. Project Background

The Kaifeng Dakang project represents a milestone in heavy-duty industrial brick production within China’s central plains. The client’s primary objective was to replace aging, low-efficiency tunnel kilns with a single, high-capacity system capable of meeting the surging demand for standardized construction materials in urban development. Given the scale of the operation, the project required an engineering partner capable of managing ultra-large structural loads while maintaining thermal precision.

2. Technical Specifications & Engineering Excellence

The defining feature of this project is its 16.8-meter kiln cross-section, combined with a massive 160-meter diameter. In the world of kiln engineering, a wider section drastically increases the volume of bricks that can be fired simultaneously, but it also introduces the "Cold Core" challenge—where the center of the kiln car fails to reach the required temperature.

To solve this, our engineering team implemented:

  • Multi-Point Burner Configuration: We utilized a high-velocity burner array positioned at precise intervals to ensure that heat penetrates to the very center of the 16.8m stack.

  • Precision Draft Management: A customized airflow system was designed to balance the internal pressure, preventing heat stratification and ensuring that every brick, from the edge to the core, undergoes uniform vitrification.

  • Heavy-Duty Mechanical Drive: Moving a 160-meter diameter system requires immense torque. We integrated a reinforced drive system with frequency-conversion technology to allow for smooth, vibration-free rotation, reducing structural fatigue on the kiln lining.

3. Performance & Capacity

The facility achieves an impressive daily capacity of 600,000 to 700,000 standard bricks. This throughput was made possible by optimizing the firing cycle through a high-temperature rapid-firing process. By using high-grade refractory materials with low thermal conductivity, we minimized heat loss through the kiln walls, allowing the system to reach peak temperatures faster and maintain them with lower fuel consumption.

4. Business Impact

By consolidating production into this single, ultra-large facility, the client reduced their per-unit energy cost by approximately 22% compared to traditional smaller kilns. Furthermore, the high degree of automation in the loading and unloading zones has reduced the labor requirement by 40%, significantly enhancing the project’s Return on Investment (ROI).
