High-Efficiency Brick Manufacturing (Yulin, Shaanxi)

  • Country: China

  • Location: Yulin, Shaanxi

  • Daily Capacity: 400,000 – 500,000 Standard Bricks

  • Kiln Cross-Section: 12.98 Meters

  • Kiln Diameter: 148 Meters

Case Introduction

Core Focus: Energy Conservation in Arid Environments

1. Project Background

Located in the energy-rich but climatically challenging region of Shaanxi, the Yulin project was designed for a client seeking a balance between high output and extreme energy efficiency. In a region where fuel costs and environmental regulations are tightening, the focus was shifted towards a "Smart Kiln" approach—using data to drive production.

2. Technical Innovations

The Yulin facility features a 12.98-meter cross-section and a 148-meter diameter. While slightly smaller than the Kaifeng project, this configuration was optimized for high-pressure firing of local clay varieties which require a specific cooling curve to prevent cracking.

Key technical features include:

  • Integrated Waste Heat Recovery (WHR): We installed a secondary heat exchange system that captures the cooling-zone exhaust air (approx. 250°C - 300°C) and redirects it back into the drying chambers. This "closed-loop" thermal system ensures that almost no energy is wasted, which is critical for maintaining profitability in the Shaanxi market.

  • PLC-Based Thermal Monitoring: The kiln is equipped with over 60 high-temperature thermocouples connected to a centralized PLC control room. This allows operators to monitor the temperature curve in real-time and adjust the air-fuel ratio automatically, compensating for variations in raw material moisture content.

3. Production Results

The project delivers a steady 400,000 to 500,000 standard bricks per day. The 12.98m section proved to be the "sweet spot" for this specific clay type, allowing for a dense loading pattern that maximizes the kiln's internal volume without compromising the airflow required for complete combustion.

4. Environmental & Economic Value

The Yulin project has become a local benchmark for environmental compliance. By optimizing the combustion process, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions were reduced by 15%. For the client, this meant not only a lower carbon footprint but also a "Green Label" status, which is increasingly valuable for securing government-backed construction contracts in China.
